You want to build a Nigerian entertainment blog of your own without technical help from anyone.
Now I’m not all here to talk about the blogging passion and blah. I talk about that all the time – I’m here to lay it down straight to the point, to solve the problem. It’s very easy to set up an entertainment blog of your own (With or Without Coding Skills!)
Just hang on tight, grab your popcorn, lay back on the couch, with your laptop right in front of you, and follow every step I have to take on this guide. You might need to take out your Debit Card too! LOL! No one else will guide you better 🙂
Now, some of you may not be all cooked up for guides but actually need an entertainment blog. That’s fine. Feel free to Contact Me anytime.
But if you are the techy geeky type, let’s do this may we 🙂
An authentic entertainment website in Nigeria should have a minimum of:
1. A Posts Page
2. A Categories Area
3. A Recent/Latest Posts Section
4. A Contact Page
5. An About Page
7. An Email-Subscription Area
As someone budding to own and know how to build an entertainment blog in Nigeria, you most likely got eyes on your budget and you want to spare as much as you can. At the same time, you want to build something really different, something beautiful and reader-friendly.
Following the steps I outline below will take you through the step by step process involved and in no time, your entertainment blog will be set up and running in No Time! and at low cost.
The very first thing you need to consider while building your Nigerian entertainment blog is to figure out where your blog will be hosted and as well what domain name you will be using.
A domain name is the unique identifier of your blog on the web, just like it is for this website you are currently reading: www.ayomidejohnson.com while your web hosting like a virtual storage in the cloud hosting the files that make up your website/blog.
Buying a domain name and web hosting is probably the only major expense you will have to make to get your entertainment blog up and running. And when I talk of expenses? Hosting Plans as low as 5000 Naira doesn’t sound like such to me.
Depending on the domain name and the hosting plan you are getting, you can get your domain name and web hosting in total for as low as NGN5,000 per year! Cheap isn’t it?
But not all hosting companies go that low and offer much good, but from me – I got the best for you.
So, the question from me to you – which I will still answer alone 🙁
Like I mentioned earlier, purchasing a domain name and web hosting for your entertainment blog is definitely not going to tear your wallet, or rip your debit card in half – At least for the next one year 🙂 – You can get quality web hosting in Nigeria for as low as N5,000 per year.
So, here are my favorite, cheapest and quality web hosting providers in Nigeria:
SmartWeb’s hosting is a really good option if you are just getting started. You can get hosting plans for as low as N3,500 and purchase a COM.NG domain name for as low as N1,500. Also another good benefit of using SmartWeb is that you get a free .com.ng domain name during the signup process.
Furthermore, SmartWeb also has inbuilt features on your hosting’s cPanel to automatically install WordPress, making it easier to start building your entertainment website immediately.
1. Visit the Domain/Hosting Registrar Website
2. Search For Your Preferred Domain Name
3. Select A Preferred Hosting Package
4. Add other services like Email forwarding, DNS Management, etc
5. View Your Order Summary
That’s a summary, but I will show you how to go about it on SmartWeb. The process is pretty much the same on other hosts.
Use Google Chrome/Mozilla Firefox Browsers on PC or Android for the best results. In your browser, visit SmartWeb via my recommendation page to get huge discounts and a free .com.ng domain -> https://ayomidejohnson.com/recommends/smartweb
In the search box right below the large slider, search for the availability of the preferred domain name you wish to use. If available, click the “Add To Cart” button and proceed to checkout. On the next page you need to add a hosting plan.
Select a preferred hosting package for your blog. The higher the hosting plan you select, the more benefits of speed, disk space and bandwidth you get, which also means your blog can accommodate more visitors.
But it’s also fine to start small if you just want to test things out. Even the lowest package of N350 per month (3,500 per Year) works just fine.
Click the order now button beneath the preferred hosting plan you want.
On the next page, merge your selected domain.
These are optional but it will also benefit you in the long run if you add other services like Email Forwarding, DNS Management or Dedicated IP Addresses.
You will also notice at the top that the “Free Domain” has been awarded to your cart, which means you won’t be charged for your domain name for that purchase through the first year.
A free domain name applies only if you are purchasing the Annual plan of N3,500 and above.
Make one last review to be sure everything is fine, check how much you will be billed finally to avoid issues later on. Once it all looks good, click the black “Checkout” button on the left to finalize the process and generate an invoice.
On the checkout page, select your preferred mode of payment. You can pay through Bank Transfer or Debit/Credit Card payment gateways.
Click the “COMPLETE ORDER” button once completed to generate an Invoice for your payment.
Once your payment is confirmed and successful, a Client Account will be automatically generated for you, where you will have access to your hosting and domain(s).
Those are the simplest steps to get a domain name and hosting for your Nigerian Entertainment Blog, and it doesn’t take more than ten minutes to complete and get ready to set up your entertainment blog.
Your blog will run on a software, either ready made or hand-coded from scratch. I’m not here to show you how to hand-code your blog because very will be able to survive the tutorial 🙂
Which is why I’m going to show you the easiest, quickest and efficient tool used by thousands of bloggers to run their blogs.

Thanks to the inbuilt functionality of our cPanel. We can easily install WordPress in one-click.
Once your hosting account is activated, you will have a cPanel area to manage your hosting files, database, and other things. To access your cPanel account on most hosts, you simply have to type in the address of your website slash cpanel
Your cPanel login details will also be sent to you via the email provided.
Once you are logged into cPanel, here’s what you need to do:

With WordPress, you have options from several thousands of themes to select from. You can install themes from the WordPress repository or upload a theme to your WordPress blog.
